Tamba Cotton Village Kumobe
From the late Edo period to the early Showa era, women in the Tamba region passed down the craft of cotton weaving from parent to child and from child to grandchild, working on it as a winter task during the farming off-season. They spun thread from cotton, dyed it using plants from their surroundings, and created handmade textiles. We aim to learn these techniques and memories from grandmothers and pass them on to the next generation.
