""Enjoy the nature, lifestyle, and cuisine of the Satoyama.""

This is a custom-made 2-day, 1-night tour designed to immerse you in the Satoyama lifestyle. In addition to activities like the Monkey Quest and Night Safari, we offer options such as farming experiences, BBQ with freshly harvested vegetables, and camping—all arranged to suit your preferences.

Monkey Quest - Discover Wild Monkeys!

Explore the wilderness of Tambasasayama City in search of wild Japanese macaques. Currently, there are five groups of macaques residing in Tambasasayama, often appearing near farmland and causing crop damage. Their primary habitat, however, is deep within Tamba’s forests. Where do these monkeys usually dwell? Using a radio telemetry system, participants will embark on a quest to locate them in the forest.

If you're lucky, you might spot monkeys near the fields, where an abundance of food draws them. While farmland is an attractive food source for these mountain-dwelling monkeys, for farmers, their presence is a significant challenge. How can humans and wildlife coexist? This experience invites participants to observe and reflect on the relationship between people and wild animals in the Satoyama landscape.

Night Adventure Safari - The Nocturnal World of Wildlife

Many wild animals come alive at night. During this nighttime tour, you’ll have the chance to observe them up close as they display behaviors unseen during the day. Under a starlit sky, far from human settlements, enjoy encounters with wildlife thriving in the calm of the night, offering a mysterious natural experience different from daytime excursions.

To find animals at night, light is your best tool. With the help of car headlights or powerful flashlights, you can catch the glow of animal eyes or spot their shapes in the darkness. Japanese deer are the most common sighting, but you might also encounter hares, raccoons, or wild boars.

Experience Satoyama Living to the Fullest

For those wanting more than just the Monkey Quest and Night Safari, we offer a 2-day tour to fully enjoy the Satoyama experience. Besides combining various programs, you can try farming, mingle with locals, enjoy BBQs, and camp in nature—immersing yourself in the lifestyle of the Satoyama. Let us know your preferences, and we’ll tailor the tour to meet your expectations.
