The "Dekansho Festival," which began in 1953 and is now in its 70th year, is a summer festival representing the city of Tamba Sasayama that attracts more than 70,000 people every year. Held annually on August 15 and 16, the festival features a variety of events, including a general dance around a turret set up in the San-no-maru square of Sasayama Castle, a dekansho dance contest, fireworks, and a huge night market.
