As introduced in the 6th year of Reiwa, the Hoko Parade will also take place this year. The highlights are the assembly of the hoko and the hoko parade through the town. During the parade, children play traditional "hayashi" music atop the hoko. There are two types of hayashi music: "hon-bayashi" and "modori-bayashi." Additionally, small children ride under the hoko, and a group of about 20 to 30 people pull the hoko during the parade. The main attraction is the use of the "manriki" tool to turn 90 degrees at intersections, a feature unique to Sasayama's hoko parade. Please come and see it for yourself. Finally, due to the current difficulty in securing enough participants, we are considering holding an open call for participation.
