About Activity
In the forests of Tamba, various wildlife species reside, with many animals being more active at night than during the day. Spotting these creatures in their natural habitat isn’t easy. This program allows you to explore the nighttime forest in search of animals. With a flashlight in hand, immerse yourself in the night’s mysterious world, listening to the sounds of nature and experiencing a side of wildlife seldom felt in daily life.
The Nocturnal World of Wildlife
Many wild animals are lively and active at night. During this nighttime tour, you’ll have the chance to witness their vibrant behaviors, which are rarely visible during daylight hours. Under a starlit sky, away from human settlements, enjoy encounters with these animals amidst the serene sounds of the natural night.
Catching a Glimpse of Eyes Glowing in the Dark!
To locate animals at night, light is your best tool. With the aid of car headlights or powerful flashlights, you might spot animals’ eyes glowing in the dark. Among the creatures you’re most likely to encounter are Japanese deer, as well as the occasional hare, raccoon, or wild boar.
A Light Show Adorning the Summer Night Sky
The Genji fireflies inhabit clean, clear streams and are sensitive to water quality changes from pesticide and chemical use, as well as environmental impacts from land development that reduce their habitats. Experience the limited-season fantasy of Tamba Sasayama’s rich natural scenery and its firefly-filled nights.
Note: This is a seasonal optional tour to view fireflies. If interested, please register at the same time as the Night Adventure Safari.
