Dining Stall by Houwakai in Shimogawara Town

The volunteers of Shimogawara Town will be selling various local specialties during the three-day weekend one week before the Kasuga Shrine Autumn Festival.

Young members will offer: • Fried chicken with black soybeans • Black soybean and chestnut steamed rice (okowa) • Roasted black soybean flour (kinako) • Boiled black soybeans • Various beverages • Local wild game dishes such as wild boar and venison simmered in soy sauce (*menu may vary depending on hunting conditions at the time)

In addition, local residents will sell red bean rice (sekihan) and freshly harvested black soybeans still on the branch.

As an attraction, members of the local community will perform traditional festival music atop the local float “Hōōzan” (Phoenix Mountain).

We would be delighted if you could stop by, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and take your time tasting our local flavors!
